Pack your appetite and bring your family, friends and neighbours to the King Community BBQ on Thursday, Aug. 20 from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. at the King Heritage & Cultural Centre. Purchase BBQ favourites (hamburgers and sausages) prepared by the King City Lions Club and treat yourself to a sweet treat from the on-site ice cream truck! Enjoy family-friendly activities, including lawn games, bubble station, colouring, crafts, sidewalk chalk art, a storytelling corner featuring local legends, scavenger hunt on the grounds and a heritage-themed photo booth with costumes and props. Guided tours of Laskay Hall, the King Railway Station and King Christian Church, lessons from Kahéhta, the Indigenous Medicine Garden, and heritage exhibits, historic maps and photographs from the Township archives will be available for exploration during the event. Admission is free. Pre-register to help organizers plan food quantities and you'll be entered into a prize draw.
